So This Happened 16/11/23

Auto theft in Canada has hit ‘historic highs’, this according to an Équité Association reportStolen cars and trucks have increased by as much as 50% this year among Canada’s biggest provinces, with over 84,000 stolen last year alone.

Many stolen cars end up being shipped to Africa and the Middle East via the Port of Montreal. Insurance companies say this costs consumers well over $1 billion a year.

Which begs the question: if the police know that a huge % of stolen cars and trucks being shipped to Africa and the Middle East exit through the Port of Montreal, wouldn’t it make sense to say, oh I don’t know, station a few coppers down at the port to have a little looksie around? You know, maybe do some detective work?

I mean, you already have the first part of this Scooby Doo mystery figured out - where the cars and trucks are being shipped from, the next part doesn’t actually seem as hard. Maybe have a look in a few containers? Ask some of the port workers if they’ve seen anything suspicious, like 3000 Honda CR-V’s being loaded onto container ships. Have you checked any security cameras yet? Buehler?

I’ll keep you informed on any new developments.

In more thieving car news - have you ever heard the story when North Korea in the 1970’s ordered 1000 or so Volvo 144’s but never paid for them? Well, it’s true. In 1974 (I was practically a baby), Kim Il-sung made a deal with the good folks at Volvo to purchase 1000 cars. Swedish businesses were very happy at the time because North Korea looked as though it showed great economic promise (insert laughter here_______).

But Kim Il-sung never paid up for those cars and to this day the debt remains unpaid. Which goes to show you that the old adage is true: In God we trust, the rest pay Kronas.

According to quite a few Instagram posts, you can make millions of dollars a year while following only 5 easy steps. The first step is to find a job that is in high demand, and then scale that job until you’re making 7 figures.

I may have missed the middle 3 steps, but I’ve already outlined the hardest 2, so the rest should be simple.

  1. Aside from 'we all know what is coming', let us take comfort from the fact that 'insurance will pay for it'. And, of course, you cannot talk about this, your heightened fears for your property and family.

  2. More and more I think to myself that 'what is coming' is already here. I may want to look at increasing my insurance - auto, home, and especially life.
