Stay Inside...Or Not

As governments across the universe decide whether or not they will ease stay-at-home restrictions due to the slightly deadly WuhanFlu, citizens are now firmly in one of two camps when it comes to their governments decision: the *let us the hell out* camp, and the *stay at home* camp.

The Let Us Out! camp believe that, among other things, one persons fear should not interfere with another persons freedom. They believe that opening up the economy and letting people decide whether to go out to the store, or go to church, or back to work, is again, individual choice. Many Let Us Outers! believe the government is tyrannical, liars, thieves, and if not challenged, will happily subjugate them.

On the other side, we have the Stay at Home group. They believe that the Let Us Out! camp are endangering their lives, as opening up the economy is encouraging people to congregate, which will spread the Flumanchu even more.

Many will also tell you that until a vaccine is found, we need to limit every aspect of our lives, for the sake of the most vulnerable. Most of these folks believe what the government tells them, unless the government isn't of their political stripe.

There is no middle ground in this dispute. You either want out, or want to stay in.

The solution though, can actually be both.

If the LUO crowd want to go out and do their thing, then by all means, let them do their thing. Why would a person who has no intention of going out worry in the least about someone who wants to go out to the beach or to a restaurant. Are they worried about catching the flu from these people? Why would they worry, can the wuflu travel through brick walls now?

If the SAH crowd are worried that the LUO group will spread the virus when they're out, who cares, they'll only be spreading it to other LUO'ers, who will then go home and deal with the flu like they deal with any other sickness. We now know that very few people have to be hospitalized over this, especially the young, especially those who aren't crazy fat or have other comorbidities.

SAH also say they worried about the LUO spreading this flu to the elderly, the group most susceptible to this flu. Again, the worry is unwarranted. If you are old, chances are right now you are so scared from watching the news that the chances of you ever going out again are slim to one. Those that do go out know the chances they are taking, and that is what we in Mitchieville call *life*.

Finally, the SAH will tell you that the biggest threat are those that have the virus but don't know it. The secret spreaders. Maybe the secret spreaders might go out and secretly infect the healthy. If you believe this and this is the reason why you are staying at home, then it's best you never leave the house again, because every single day of your life you are going to run into all sorts of secret spreaders who are spreading all sorts of non-wuflu related filth, but disgusting filth none-the-less. Think about that the next time you pick a few grapes off the vine at your neighbourhood Piggly Wiggly.

The Mayor will take his freedom, you can have your dingy apartment and your $2000 government welfare cheque every month. The Mayor will take the beach, the sun and sunsets, and you can rot in your dingy apartment, only to show your covered face once every two week's to go to the petri dish grocery store to look at empty shelves and one way aisles.

Freedom over slavery?

Ya, The Mayor made his choice long ago.
